Mutual fund performance records

Could you tell me where I can find the performance records of all front-end load and no-load mutual funds? Is there any one publication that carries them? W. M.

No publication that I know carries all funds' performance records, but three sources report on the biggest, and those lists run 500 to 600 funds. If you wish to compare load vs. no-load funds, 500 to 600 should be enough. Forbes magazine reports in detail on the performance of several hundred funds grouped by type -- equity, managed, bond, dual-purpose, and others. The August issue usually contains this report of funds' performance. Another source of 10-year performance histories of more than 600 funds is the Mutual Funds Almanac issued annually by Yaly Hirsch (6 Deer Trail, Old Tappan, NJ 07675). United Business Service Company, 210 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116 publishes a report of fund performance, but I have not reviewed a copy. Write for more information. Other specialized performance reports may be in your library.
