Alicia de Larrocha plans recitals
Alicia de Larrocha, the Spanish pianist, will give three recitals in New York City and appear with the New York Philarmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra during the 1980-81 season. She will play Beethoven, Mozart, and Schubert at recitals on Oct. 20 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and on Nov. 2 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in the Great Performers series. Both concerts are at 3 p.m. Then on March 29 next year she will play again for Great Performers at Avery Fisher Hall. That recital will comprise music by Soler, Beethoven, Granados, and de Falla.
DE Larrocha will appear with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Riccardo Muti at Lincoln Center Wednesday, Nov. 12, playing the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 25 in C, K, 503, and will return to Avery Fisher for four performances with the New York Philarmonic under Rafael Kubelik on March 5, 6, 7, and 10, 1981, playing both Ravel piano concertos. These performances will mark her first New York offering of the Concerto for Left Hand alone.
The pianist will also be appearing in Washington, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, and other cities, giving 16 concerts.
