Anderson names Lucey as his running mate
| Washington
Independent presidential candidate John Anderson named Democrat Patrick J. Lucey of Wisconsin as his running mate for the White House Monday. Mr. Lucey, a former Wisconsin governor and ambassador to Mexico, walked out of the Democratic National Convention in New York two weeks ago when his candidate -- Sen. Edward Kennedy -- lost the nomination to President Carter.
The choice of Mr. Lucey, a longtime friend of the Kennedy family and a Democratic Party cornerstone in Wisconsin, is aimed at boosting Mr. Anderson's standing in the political polls by drawing support of unhappy liberals away from President Carter and GOP candidate Ronald Reagan.
