Israelis continue attack on Lebanese rebel bases
| Beirut
Israeli planes and patrol boats attacked Palestinian guerrilla bases in south Lebanon Wednesday night, UN peacekeeping forces say. Israel said it would continue to carry out air patrols over Lebanon to monitor guerrilla activities and attack the guerrillas to stop raids into Israel.
A UN spokesman said international observers on routine patrol were detained by rightist Israeli-backed militiamen in the south, while other observer patrol was held by leftist forces. There have been sporadic artillery exchanges between the Israelis and their rightist allies and the Palestinian-leftist forces since major Israeli ground and air raids on Palestinian positions two weeks ago.
