Iraq says it has retaken are fought over with Iran

Iraq's forces have recaptured all the disputed territory along the border with neighboring Iran in two days of fierce air and ground battles, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.He added that Iraq lost only 6 dead and 14 wounded in the two days of fighting Tuesday and Wednesday, along with three tanks and three troop carriers. He said the Iranians lost 3 warplanes, including a helicopter, 29 tanks, and 5 military vehicles and had 12 soldiers captured by Iraq.

Iran's joint military staff has denied the Iraqi claim of captured territory. Tehran Radio also says Iranian forces shot down 6 Soviet-built MIG fighters and 4 helicopters during the fighting and knocked out a score or more of tanks.
