Cuban cosmonaut Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez will be launched aboard the Soyuz 38 space capsule along with a Soviet commander, Yuri Romanenko. The men will join two Soviet cosmonauts on board the Salyut 6 orbiting station for a week's stay, during which Mr. Tamayo is due to carry out experiments and observations programmed by the Havana Academy of Sciences.
