China has formally taken its place on the executive board of the International Monetary Fund. Because of its contribution to IMF funds, China will receive 3 percent of the voting power in the IMF. The United States, the largest contributor, has nearly 20 percent of the vote, and some major European nations have 6 or 7 percent.
