In the introduction that appeared in the Oct. 16 editions of the Monitor for the series on President Carter's first term, reference was made to President Carter's signing the Alaska lands bill. In fact he has not signed the bill, which faces further congressional action. The Monitor regrets the mistake.

In another story, United Press International incorrectly reported that Evansville, Ind., had a 20 percent unemployment rate in August. Evansville had a 7.1 percent rate. UPI and the Monitor regret the error.
