Home-buyers keep looking -- in vain -- for relief from high interest rates. Even with interest at 13 and 14 percent, demand for loans has been strong, espe- cially in the West and South.

Inflation is the driving force behind high rates. So long as inflation remains at double-digit levels, experts think home mortgages will hover at least in the 12 to 13 percent range well into 1981.m
