Poles seek $3 billion loans from US to aid economy
| Washington
Poland has asked the United States for about $3 billion in low-interest loans to help cope with economic difficulties resulting from last summer's labor unrest, US officials said. The request was made last month but, because of President Carter's election defeat last week, any action was unlikely before Ronald Reagan takes office on Jan. 20, the officials said. They added that Poland had also asked for large amounts of aid from America's allies in Western Europe and Japan.
