'Dallas' episode reaches for a record in ratings
| New York
Last Friday's episode of "Dallas" may be the highest-rated entertainment show in TV history. According to Monitor TV critic Arthur Unger it is already the most successful promotion in TV history, ballyhooed internationally for months by an overworked CBS press staff. Based on overnight Nielsen ratings from New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, it appears certain that the episode, which revealed that "Kristin" (Mary Crosby) shot J. R., is certainly the highest-rated episode of any regularly scheduled TV series, a record previously held by the final episode of "The Fugitive" in 1967.
