Meat and milk for Soviets feel pinch of US embargo
| Moscow
Figures from the Central Statistical Board published in the weekly Economic Gazette showed that overall meat production in the Soviet Union through November was 14.129 million tons, down 3 percent from 1979 levels. Milk production was given as 59.219 million tons, also a 3 percent drop. Meat and milk production were expected to be the areas most affected by the US-led grain embargo against the Soviet Union to protest the invasion of Afghanistan.
