| Beiruit
A three-man committee set up after the November Arab summit in Amman, Jordan, to promote reconciliation among Arab states has failed to achieve its goal, a leading Arab newspaper said. The Beirut daily, An-Nahar, quoted high-level Arab diplomatic sources as saying the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, Algerian Foreign Minister Muhammad Sadiq Ben Yehya, and Arab League Secretary-General Chedli Kleibi were unable to achieve a reconciliation between Iraq, Syria, and Jordan. The Arab diplomats had visited the heads of sta te in all three countries during a tour last week.
