US clergymen give Israel plea for Palestinian rights

A delegation of American clergymen delivered to the Israeli Embassy a petition on behalf of Palestinian human rights which calls for talks between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization and a reduction of US aid to Israel. The statement signed by 400 clergymen was also sent to President Carter and President-elect Reagan, congressional leaders, and the UN. The statement also seeks US and Israeli recognition the "right of Palestinians to self-determination, includ ing an independent state in the West bank and Gaza. . . ."
