No criminal prosecution of Clark over Iran trip
| Washington
Attorney General Benjamin Civiletti said he has decided it would be "inappropriate" to criminally prosecute Ramsey Clark for his controversial trip to Iran during the hostage crisis. But Mr. Civiletti said issues "not resolvable at the present time" have made it impossible for him to decide whether to file a civil suit seeking up to $10,000 in fines from Clark and nine others who joined him on his trip to Tehran, Iran, last June.
He said the civil investigation "will remain pending." It could not be learned if he would leave that decision to the Reagan administration.
