US Joint Chiefs chairman picked to complete term

President Reagan has decided to retain Air Force Gen. David C. Jones as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, despite criticism from some Republicans that General Jones was too close to the Carter administration. A Pentagon spokesman said the general, whom some GOP conservatives wanted fired, was asked Monday to serve out the remaining 17 months of his t erm.
