In response to questions about a Monitor review of the book "The Light on Synanon," by David Mitchell, Cathy Mitchell, and Richard Ofshe, we would like to clarify that the article was published in the interest of reporting the views and experiences of the Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and was not intended to reflect a judgement by this newspaper regarding the nature and character of the Synanon organization.
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
