'Aging' new paneling
| East Boothbay, Maine
To the real estate editor: I have always enjoyed reading your columns and have gained good ideas. A few weeks ago someone asked about finishing pine paneling and you suggested the usual varnish, etc. I would like to recommend what I did on pine paneling in 1948, and today everyone speaks of its beauty.
On the raw wood, I used Golden Oak Minwax. I applied it by cloth, wiping off any excess. The next day I gave it another coat. When the color seemed right, I rubbed the paneling with pumice and steel wool.
The result is paneling that looks well aged. 52900100027326 NOVEMBER 15, 1981
