* The dispute lingers on after the first TV documentary showing the driving out of Germans from Reich lands that became part of Poland and Czechoslovakia after World War II. Some older members of "expellee organizations" bitterly regret that it took so long for West German TV to portray the sufferings of Germans as well as of Jews in the war and postwar era. But critics of the screening object to TV's failure to stress that the Germans brought the expulsion on themselves by their maltreatment of Slavs under Hitler.
