That states may require doctors to notify parents of minors before performing abortions. The 6-3 decision upheld a Utah criminal law that was challenged by a minor, known only as "H. L.," who was seeking an abortion. The court said the law applied only to dependent minors living with their parents and that parental notification, but not approval is requi red.
