Bankers from West meet Poles on refinancing

Western bankers met delegates of Poland's state bank for foreign trade, Bank Handlowy, to discuss refinancing the country's debt after hearing that Western governments were willing to do their part.

A telex message from Bank Handlowy to the Western banks before the meeting said the majority of Poland's Western government creditors had reacted positively after the latest round of talks in Paris last week. The commercial banks are being asked to foot the bill for $3.1 bill ion in refinancing loans.
