Israeli commandos kill 8 in southern Lebanon raid

Israeli commandos backed by a naval barrage launched an attack on the southern coast of Lebanon, killing 8 people and wounding 12, hospital sources reported. The commandos destroyed several houses and damaged orchards when they struck near the port of Tyre under cover of an artillery barrage from two Israeli naval vessels off the coast.

Witnesses said the naval shelling was directed at the Palestinian refugee ca mp of Rashidiyah, near Tyre.
