Chinese to compensate for cancelling contracts

China will pay compensation to foreign companies for canceled contracts that have been signed, senior Chinese officials said. They made the statement two days before the arrival in Peking of a delegation from five Japanese companies for talks aimed at helping China resume construction contracts w orth $1.6 billion that were suspended in January.
