Remember Edgar Tekere? It looks as though he's out as a political power in Zimbabwe. Tekere is the controversial former Cabinet minister acquitted of killing a white farmer last year.

The last straw, informed sources say, was an interview he gave to a Nairobi newspaper last month in which he claimed to be "proud" of his role in the killing. Although a court cleared Tekere of criminal responsibility, Prime Minister Robert Mugabe booted him out of the Cabinet. Now he also is likely to be ousted from his role as secretary of the ruling Zimbabwe African African National Union-Patriotic Front later this year.
