God's allness heals malignancy

The words "cancer" and "malignancy" tend to mystify and terrify. Attempts to find material remedies may only increase bewilderment and anxiety. But the spiritual remedy of Christ Jesus -- replacing materiality with spirituality -- removes enigma and fear as it permanently heals.

Today the Science of Jesus' teachings --the Comforter he prophesied would come n1 -- shows that God governs man through the harmonious law of divine Love. Spiritual growth is the orderly unMind. Mary Baker Eddy n2 writes, "Growth is governed by intelligence; by the active, all-wise, law-creating, law-disciplining, law-abiding. Principle, God." n3 This divine truth can be demonstrated in human experience.

Christian Science shows that all disease (tumors included) has a mental origin. False mental states produce discordant physical effects. As Christ, Truth, reveals scientific facts of spiritual reality to human consciousness, erring, diseased beliefs give way to divine harmony, and illness is healed.

Malignant thought can be simple ignorance of God, Spirit, and spiritual man. It could be as naive as sensitivity and hurt feelings or as vicious as hate and malice. These and other evil influences invading thought tend to ill will, morbidity, and ill health. Only the operation of the Christ can prevent or cut out evil influences from mind and body.

Fear, sin, ignorance, tend to disrupt and distort normal bodily growth. An oyster covers an irritant with layer upon layer of secretion to produce a pearl. The human mind, on the other hand, tends to cover a wrong thought with layers of selfishness, thereby producing disordered growth. But through Christ, the true idea of God, the irritant and layers of "self" can be uncovered and replaced by the recognition of man's true selfhood -- his God-given identity -- which restores ordered spiritual growth. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,m Mrs. Eddy writes, "In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error, -- self-will, self-justification, and self-love, -- which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death." n4

When an unsightly growth appeared on my face, I turned to Christian Science for healing. I searched the Bible and Science and Healthm for a better understanding of God and a more Christly view of myself and others.

I learned that divine Life is not organic but spiritual, and that growth, a function of Life, is incorporeal and immutable. I saw that disordered growth and decomposition are illusions, not substance. Each time I looked into the mirror, I vehemently repudiated what I saw --sometimes vigorously calling it a lie, other times firmly declaring that the error was no part of my being as the pure image of Love.

I remembered resenting another's arrogance and then justifying myself for doing so. I strove for more compassion and forgiveness in Christian living. The growth was arrested but did not disappear.

One day in prayer I forgot all about wanting to be healed. I just longed to know more of God and His loving creation. The Christly view of divine Love's All-in-allness flooded by thought. I saw that Spirit's substance, Soul's holiness, Principle's order, embrace all in loveliness.The law of Life, divine Love, controls all form, action, quality, quantity. At that moment the growth effortlessly fell away.

True health is a state of spiritual consciousness and Christian character. Healthy spiritual, moral, and physical growth is assured as we worship God rightly. "Cancer" and "malignancy" are essentially words describing unhealthy mental and physical conditions resulting from a misunderstanding of God and man.
