When Reagan has Mexican President Jose Lopez Portillo to lunch at the White House June 9, the talk may not be oil or illegal aliens, but baseball. Reagan also has invited Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher Fernando Valenzuela to the affair. Valenzuela, a rookie sensation, is the first nine-game winner in the major leagues this season. He also is Mexican and has a large following back home.

Reagan shouldn't be at a loss for something to talk about across the table. He was once a play-by-play announcer for the Chicago Cubs.m
