Youth labor force smaller this summer

The 16-to-24-year-old labor force is expected to total 27.3 million this summer, slightly below the level of last summer, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the US Department of Labor.

The small projected decline from last summer results from a combination of a slightly lower youth population and generally lower rates of labor force participa tion.
