Shriver upsets Austin in Wimbledon tourney

Seventh-seeded American Pam Shriver upset her third-seeded compatriot, Tracy Austin, 7-5, 6-4, Monday to win an unexpected semifinal clash with top seed Chris Evert Lloyd at the $650,000 Wimbledon Tennis Championships. It was 19 -year-old Shriver's first victory over her 18-year- old opponent in 12 meetings since their junior days.

Ms. Evert overcame 10th-seeded Yugoslav Mima Jausovec, 6-2, 6-2, to reach the last four.

The other semifinal lines up the Czechoslovak No. 2 seed, Hana Mandlikova, against the self-exiled Czech Martin a Navratilova, the No. 4.
