Labor Party wins Israeli election

Challenger Shimon Peres' Labor Party narrowly edged out Prime Minister Menachem Begin's Likud bloc in Tuesday's parliamentary elections by 48 or 49 seats to 47 seats in the 120-seat Parliament, Israel Television projected as the polls clo sed.
