Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

There were some bad things about living in early Oswego. If it rained, the streets would be all muddy as there were no asphalted roads. If there was a fire, there would be no fire engines to come to your rescue. There was no electricity in early Oswego, neither were there any cars. People had to go outdoors to go to the bathroom, because they had no toilets built in their houses. Well, I'm ha ppy I didn't live in early Oswego.
