A blessing

Walk through the valley and listen, go on the mountain and sing your joy! Rise eagerly into the day and be ready for the night. Visit the ewes with their lambs and watch the phoebes build their nests. Follow the trail of jets into infinity and wait for the snail to cross your path. Exult with the hawk in the wind and wait with the garter snake in the sun. Join the brook in laughter and let the cloud teach you tenderness. Smile to chickweed and gentian and be quickened greeting the ant. On your knees weed your herb bed and be patient for roses. Follow the light from East to West and rest in the shade of the maple. From your mountain bless your valley then come ho me hallowing your house with your song of joy!

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
