Iranian guards and leftists-in heavy clash in Tehran
| Tehran, Iran
Revolutionary guards battled members of the outlawed Mujahideen-e Khalq organization in downtown Tehran Thursday in what was described as the worst clash ever between government forces and the leftist group.
The violence followed a government raid on the groups's command center, according to Iran's state radio. Iran's new prime minister, Muhammad Javad Bahonar, said his government planned to wipe out left-wingers fighting the rule of the clergy.
