Marine turncoat contends he's due $147,000 arrears
| Charlottesville, Va.
A lawyer for Marine Pfc. Robert Garwood says the convicted turncoat -- seeking military back pay and benefits at a closed hearing Tuesday -- earned $ 147,000 during 14 years in a Viet Cong POW camp. Garwood was found guilty of helping the North vietnamese while he was a prisoner of war and assaulting an American soldier, but contends that his actions stemmed from insanity caused by isolation and torture while held in a succession of campus.
Garwood seeks money he says he earned from September 1965 to March 1979 when he was a POW.
