Long-range Iraqi artillery shelled the southern Iranian city of Ahvaz twice yesterday, killing 11 people and wounding 23, according to a Tehran radio broadcast.
A military communique was quoted as saying that Iranian forces killed or wounded more than 35 Iraqis in clashes at the Fayyazieh front.
Iraqi jets penetrated Iranian airspace in Tabriz, Ilam, Susangerd, Dezful, Ahvaz and Abadan Sept. 15 but were driven off, the radio reported.
