Antifascist writer wins Nobel for literature

A bulgarian-born novelist and play-wright, Elias CanettI, won the 1981 No-bel Prize for Literature Thursday. Mr. Canetti, the son of Jewish parents, writes with a passionate concern about fascism. He has produced a broad range of work in German, including a novel, drama, notes and aphorisms, character studies, and memoirs. Canetti now lives in London.
