Zimbabwe puts curbs on foreign diplomats

Zimbabwe has introduced regulations limiting the size of foreign diplomatic missions and controlling travel outside Salisbury by embassy staffs beginning next month, diplomatic sources report.

They said the Foreign Affairs Ministry told foreign missions the size of their expatriate staff would be limited to a maximum of 20. Diplomats planning to go more than 25 miles from the capital would have to notify the ministry two days in advance, the sources said. They said the new plan was reportedly designed to provide improved security for diplomats. The sources said the new regulations were in line with restrictions in Tanzania, Zambia, and Mozambique.
