The traditional answer to "What's in a job?'' - namely, ''What you put into it!'' - appears to have solid basis in fact. In a study of the lives of some 456 men from working-class families, a husband and wife research team found that the capacity for industry and hard work in childhood may be the most important factor in determining adult well-being, in terms of both sucessful work habits and good personal relationships.

That's something for all parents to remember when telling the kids to tidy up their rooms, get their homework done on time, and perform each simple task to the best of their ability.
