Verona area is scoured for kidnapped general

Paramilitary security forces carried out another massive hunt for Brig. Gen. James Dozier Tuesday while police in Rome questioned two suspected Red Brigades urban guerrillas about the abduction.

Hundreds of heavily armed police combed apartments, cellars, and garages in Verona and industrial estates and disused farm buildings on its outskirts in search of General Dozier, who was kidnapped almost three weeks ago.

Investigators believe General Dozier, the senior US officer at the NATO base in Verona, is being held in a Red Brigades ''people's prison'' somewhere near Verona.

Police sources in Rome said they believed two heavily armed men arrested there Monday night with false passports were members of the Red Brigades.
