Defiant British workers strike at 2 Ford plants
| London
More than 10,000 car workers defied their trade union leaders Monday and went ahead with a strike against the Ford Motor Company, shutting two of its 24 plants in Britain.
Union negotiators had recommended suspending the strike after Ford offered to reduce the workweek and improve pensions.
But some workers were unhappy because the 7.4 percent pay raise offer was not increased.
