Arab meeting on Israel delayed by Syria
| Tunis, Tunisia
An emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers to discuss Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights has been postponed until Feb. 7, the Arab League said.
The meeting was originally due to start yesterday (Jan. 24).
Syria requested the delay, say sources, because of renewed tension between Jordan and Syria, and persistent inter-Arab differences. But the Syrian news agency said the delay was needed because Arab foreign ministers were needed in New York for United Nations discussions on the Golan Heights.
Syria called for the foreign minsiters meeting after the US vetoed sanctions against Israel's annexation.
