The human rights group Amnesty International said it has reports that Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's regime in Iran executed more than 4,000 opponents, including some who were hanged to disguise the fact that they had already died under torture.
The exiled leftist Mujahideen-e Khalq guerrilla organization claimed that more than 8,000 opponents of the regime, including many teen-agers, have been executed since June.
