PLO calls guerrilla alert, claiming Israeli buildup

The Palestine Liberation Organization has ordered Lebanon's Palestinian guerrillas on alert in anticipation of an Israeli attack, the leftist newspaper Al Liwa reported. ''The guerrilla movement has received information from the Soviet Union and other European countries that an Israeli attack is imminent,'' Al Liwa said. It said the emergency meeting followed reports of an Israeli military buildup across Lebanon's southern border. Palestinian officials had no immediate comment.
