Saudi Arabia, which has ordered five US AWACS radar aircraft, will also consider buying British Nimrod early-warning planes, Saudi Defense Minister ibn Abd al-Aziz said in an interview with the magazine Al-Yamama. The early-warning version of the Nimrod maritime reconnaissance aircraft, built by British Aerospace, is expected to enter production shortly. It will be able to detect hostile aircraft and guide fighters and missiles at long range.
