Training in Argentina confirmed by El Salvador
| San Salvador
El Salvador confirmed that government troops are getting weapons training in Argentina and said leftist guerrilla violence has dropped gradually since March.
Confirmation by the armed forces chief of staff, Col. Rafael Flores Lima, of the Argentine weapons training was the first official word on the program, but he would not specify the number of government troops taking part.
Mr. Flores Lima said insurgents have lessened their attacks since nationwide elections were held March 28, but said he expected it could take several years to put down the violence in the Central American nation.
