Turkish prime minister visits northern Cyprus
| Nicosia, Cyprus
Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ulusu received a tumultuous welcome from thousands of Turkish Cypriots and settlers from the mainland when he arrived on a controversial visit to Turkish-held northern Cyprus. It was the first visit to the island by a Turkish prime minister, and came three months after Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou toured the southern sector of the island controlled by a Greek-Cypriot government.
