June firsters

It's not every day you can welcome the first of June.

Who says?

This snap judgment was dated even before everybody knew that space and time were on the way out. Now there is no excuse whatever for being bound by the calendar.

The first of June happens when you catch up with June, not when it catches up with you. Or didn't you notice that shining-faced girl celebrating the first of June on Feb. 26? In that case you may miss the gray-suited man who failed to look at the sky today and didn't smile until Nov. 18.

It's easy to tell first-of-June people. And the nice thing is they'll listen.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
