Papal example has people kissing London airfield

Pope John Paul II's gesture of kissing the soil of countries he visits has started a craze among passengers arriving at London's Gatwick Airport, officials said.

''One passenger does it and the whole planeload follows suit. I suppose we will have to look at double cleaning the tarmac if this craze goes on much longer,'' an airport spokesman said.
