Terror and violence rife in Guatemala, study says

Terror, massacres, and political violence are widespread in Guatemala, and the bulk of the responsibility for human suffering rests with military authorities and right-wing groups, a study by Oxfam America concluded.

The study is based on 115 responses from individuals who have worked in the Central American nation. The 64-page study was undertaken before the March 23 military coup. Its authors said numerous reports since the coup indicate the violence continues.
