Senate committee kills nuclear-freeze proposal

In a victory for President Reagan, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee killed a congressional proposal to freeze United States and Soviet nuclear arms at present levels.

Instead, the committee approved a resolution supporting Mr. Reagan's Strategic Arms Reductions Treaty (START) proposal to cut US and Soviet nuclear warheads by one-third.
