Britain is planting its forces firmly and indefinitely on the Falklands.

Their determination to stay is shown by permission granted - almost as soon as the fighting ended - to a British company to ship stone-crushing equipment to the Port Stanley airport.

The company, Goodwin Barsoy of Leicester, will repair and lengthen the runway , damaged by British jets during the fighting. The equipment is said to be worth (STR)300,000 ($525,000).

A British aviation company has applied for permission to operate two flights a day between Chile and Port Stanley.
